Nightcore?

I never understood the whole "Nightcore" thing or the name. What does pitching up & speeding up music have to do with Night?
I prefer the complete opposite. I like to use the app to set the pitch down to -7.54 and set the tempo to half the normal speed down to 50% and add some reverb. Too me I think it makes the music sound dark like night. Speeding & pitching up music to sound like chipmunks seems a little silly and doesn't give me that impression. No offense meant to those that like to listen to Nightcore.

The term Nightcore comes from a Norwegian musical duo called "Nightcore". They DJed in nightclubs in the 2000nds and would pitch-shift versions of trance and eurodance songs for a happier version of the dance music they were using. It was meant as high energy dance music with an upbeat happy vibe.
