Flac on Google Drive

I can load a .flac file from my phone but if I try and load one from Google Drive (within your app) the .flac file is grayed out and I can't select it. I can download the file from Google Drive to my phone (via Google Drive app) and then load it in your app. Is this a bug in Google Drive or do you somehow tell Google Drive to select only .wav, .mp3 etc and missed off .flac?
Thanks
Darren

  • Right now MSC is requesting audio/* MIME types (which should be all audio files). For some unknown reason Google Drive does not consider flac (and a couple other types) an audio file, if you go in the Drive app it does not show the audio icon next to the file either.

There appears to some ways to ask for multiple MIME types, so it could request application/flac (or whatever it thinks it is) as well. I'll see if I can figure out a reliable way to do it, it looks a little dangerous (undocumented and not working on some Android versions).
  • Thanks for the detailed explanation. It's a Google Drive "feature" then.

  • It's in the beta version: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.smp.musicspeed . For Android 4.4+ flac, ogg, mp4, 3gp no longer grayed out in Google Drive, Audio, or Downloads. Will be in production version in a couple days.
